HJAIA Plane Train Tunnel West Extension

Technique, in a Joint Venture with Clark Construction and Guy F. Atkinson Construction (CATJV), has been awarded the design and construction of a 700-foot tunnel extension of the existing Plane Train automated people mover system at the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. The Plane Train Tunnel Extension project will extend the current Plane Train tunnel west from its existing endpoint under the Domestic Terminal and continue under the MARTA and SkyTrain stations to the Ground Transportation area. The extension will create a more efficient train turn-back operation, allowing for a significant reduction in train headway (the time interval between trains), which will yield an increase in passenger capacity. Initial work will start in February of 2019, with an overall expected completion date in 2022.
